Mineral Springs Hotel
The Mineral Springs Hotel in Alton, Illinois has a long, rich history of hauntings. Stories of the Lavender Lady that fell to her demise after being pushed down the hotel staircase, the rumors of the deaths of long ago hotel visitors that perished in the hotel pool, and several others are echoed through the halls of the now office building and café.
St. Louis Ghost Hunters were very excited to have an opportunity to investigate the old hotel. Upon arrival STLGH were met by Steve, a fellow paranormal enthusiast and affiliate of the Hotel. Steve provided very in depth tour of the Hotel. He showed us the “hot spots” found during previous investigations and shared with us the folklore and facts of the horrific history of the Mineral Springs.
Darron House, Collinsville, IL
Ms. Darron contacted St. Louis Ghost Hunters after she inherited the residence in Collinsville, IL. Ms. Darron explained that she, and others, had experienced a number of noises and feelings while in the home. She told STLGH that she had heard footstep in other rooms and other levels of the home while cleaning the home. Her husband told us of a basket that had appeared in the middle of the kitchen without explanation. He noted that he had thrown away the basket on a number of occasions and each time the basket returned to its original location. She also advised that in several situations trinkets were found in rooms that had been previously cleaned. Ms. Darron expressed her concern to be alone in the home and told us that none of her friends would return to the property with her.
Davis House – Clinton County, IL
Ms. Davis contacted St. Louis Ghost Hunters after she and her roommate Matt experienced several different types of activity. Ms. Davis claimed that items had been moved. She stated that a cross on the wall turned upside down, cabinet doors in the kitchen opened, a glass was knocked to the floor, dolls were moved from a shelf on the wall to the floor, and decorative trellises were stacked on the floor. She also stated that Matt has been pushed, scratched and drug from the bed.
Private Residence – Highland, IL
ST. Louis Ghost Hunters performed an investigation at a residence in Highland, IL. The client believes she saw the shadow of a man walking from the bedroom into the hallway.
The group performed a thorough investigation and beleive that the shadow she saw was caused by a combination of car lights and mirrors. We investigated the entire evidence with no other evidence of paranormal activity.
Killion’s Irish Inn
Last Year, Eric helped out another group of investigators to investigate Killion’s Irish Inn in Caseyville IL. The owners have claimed numerous strange occurrences. The owner, barmaids and customers have claimed to hear voices. They have seen shadows and heard strange knocking. Barmaids have also reported seeing what they beleive is a former cook who is since deceased.
The group did EMF sweeps of the entire bar, EVP work, took many pictures and set up video cameras to try to capture any paranormal activity. However, the night started out very slow and nothing of note was happening. As the night a few strange thing happened. While doing EVP work, one of the investigators began speaking in another language. This was heard only by Eric and after the investigation the investigator did not have any memory of doing this. We also picked up some high EMF in the bathroom, in places that we were not getting it earlier in the night. A source for the EMF was never found.
